Peter and Shalom come from Kenya’s western highlands — Elgeyo Marakwet, Trans Nzoia, and Uasin Gishu — where their families farm. They met building systems at one of the country’s largest children’s hospitals, and started on food traceability in July 2024. They have since spoken with more than 40 exporters.

Led software engineering at the same hospital. Owns the technical side of TruSource: the record chain from farm boundary to consignment, the engine behind every check, and the evidence that a filed statement freezes.

Where they are from
The paperwork problem is not abstract to them.
Elgeyo Marakwet, Trans Nzoia, and Uasin Gishu are farming counties, and both founders come from families who farm there. The harvest, the aggregation, the buyer who pays less because nothing about the produce can be proven — none of it needed explaining. Neither of them had to be convinced that African agricultural produce loses its value in the documentation rather than in the field.
How they met
They built critical systems together before they built this one.
Peter was Chief Information Officer and Shalom was a lead software engineer at one of Kenya’s largest children’s hospitals — an environment where a record being wrong is not a reporting inconvenience. That is where the instinct behind TruSource comes from: verify the data, keep the evidence, and never quietly pass through something you could not defend.
How they work
Both engineers. One faces out, one faces in.
Peter runs the business — exporters, operators, regulators, and the 40+ interviews that scoped the problem before a line of the compliance product was written. Shalom runs the technology. That both of them can read the code is why the commercial promises and the engineering reality have not drifted apart.
