The Origins
Peter Kanda (Chief Information Officer) and Shalom Nyende (Lead Software Engineer) met while working together on an enterprise application at one of Africa's largest children's hospitals. Both software engineers and tech enthusiasts, they quickly bonded over their shared passion for solving real-world problems using technology. Coming from North-Western Kenya, both had witnessed firsthand how technology gaps affected their communities - from farming inefficiencies to healthcare challenges. Their friendship and professional collaboration naturally led them to explore tech solutions for problems they'd grown up seeing.
While working on a traceability solution to track medical items and monitor their conditions at the hospital, they stumbled upon a bigger issue: integrating IoT devices was unnecessarily complex and time-consuming. What should have been a simple process of connecting devices for temperature and humidity monitoring turned into weeks of custom coding and integration headaches.
